2020 Raffle Quilt Challenge

December 14, 2019

So lately our group has been turning unfinished quilt workshop items into raffle quilts to share with the public. In typical quilter fashion, we don't necessarily follow a pattern or do the expected. With donated fabrics and inspiration from quilts in the museums collection we construct something completely different and make new friends and learn new things while we are sewing. This year will be no different. We hope to incorporate folk art applique on top of a traditional quilt top of school house blocks and log cabin blocks in white, yellow and blue. As usual these projects become a live thing with surprises along the way. Once we got all done adding the center house block to the project we realized we now had one house going one way and the two facing the other way. Oh well, it's a neighborhood. It's OK! Once we add hearts to the eaves of the school houses, a few trees, a cow, a bird, a horse and wagon.... you won't even notice. We will be taking our folk art inspiration from a quilt seen often hanging at Hallockville below. Below that is the Electric Quilt software plan for the quilt (though things often change as we are sewing). Colors of the borders could change yet. Ya never know!
