About Us
This is a relaxed group, interested in preserving and sharing the hand folk arts of quilting and needlework in a historic setting. Our email is:
We currently meet virtually via ZOOM see our "Get Togethers" page for specific dates, times and locations.
Please DO join us, all are welcome.
The Quilt and Stitch Group grew from a group of dedicated ladies (who helped create Hallockville Museum Farm 250th celebration benefit quilt) and an interest to continue sharing and learning in a relaxed atmosphere.
We "get together" on the third Saturday of each month (with a few exceptions during fairs on grounds), at Hallockville Museum Farm in the Hudson-Sidlowski House. See the Get Togethers page for specific times and locations.
Typical activities include hand quilting/piecing, embroidery, machine sewing/piecing, show and tell, discussions, sweets and treats, demonstrating, and more!
This group is not your classic "quilt guild". We are a working group of friendly folks who like to share what we do with the public and each other! See the activities page for the usual things we do for/with Hallockville. If you are interested in joining us, please do. The amount of time you commit is up to you. No dues, no governing structure, just sewing.
At this time we do not have "formal" meetings with speakers and show and tell (though we do a lot of this!) and refreshments (though we love sweets and often do bring some to share!) , but get together to sew and demonstrate and share what we are currently working on.
The needle arts are important as a connection to our past and our future generations. Jump in and try a class (www.hallockville/calendar) or just stop by to sit and watch. There are many different styles and you may find one you love to do. Many are portable to help pass the time while waiting for just about anything. Ask us! We do a lot of hand stitching in our group. Machines are often optional!
